Gerard Fox is the Principal of Fox Natural Capital Partners LLP. 

He offers Project, Consultancy, Trustee & NED services with Renewable Energy Policy, Environmental Economics, Regulatory Policy, Finance & Investment perspectives, drawing on a wide range of contacts in academia, policy-making, finance & fund management circles. He has over three decades' experience in Financial Services up to Managing Director level. 

Gerard is a Director and Senior Research Associate of the Regulatory Policy Institute responsible for the Research Projects Programme and Chair of the £4.5bn East Sussex Local Government Pension Fund Committee, which recently won the prestigious LAPF Fund of the Year 2021 award.

He is ESG spokesman for the Joint Committee of the £55bn ACCESS LGPS pool & a member of the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC) Corporate Programme Advisory Group. He is also a member of the UCL Behavioural Economics for the Environment Team.

Gerard has an undergraduate degree in Economics from Bristol University and a recent Masters in the Economics & Policy of Energy & Environment from UCL.

NED & Trustee Services

I offer a unique perspective as an NED or Trustee in these challenging times.

I have a very diverse set of skills, encompassing over three decades' experience in financial services up to Managing Director Level, an undergraduate degree in Economics, a recent post graduate degree in Energy & Environmental Economics, Chair of Trustees experience in Pension Fund Governance, Responsible Investment, fund manager selection and asset allocation.

I am the ESG spokesman for the £55bn ACCESS Authority LGPS pool, and play an advisory role to the Corporate Programme of the Institutional Investment Group on Climate Change (IIGCC) which addresses shareholder engagement in pursuit of the energy transition. I am also a member of the IIGCC Net-zero Benchmarks working group

As an LGPS Pension Committee Chair, I have presided over a drive into Active Impact Investing, climate solutions, water, waste & resource efficient & Paris aligned index funds. The Fund recently  won  the prestigious LAPF Fund of the Year 2021 award and was Highly Commended in the category for Best Approach to Climate Change.

Policy & Regulation 

I have extensive contacts in academic environmental economics, finance, regulatory policy & policy making circles, with a strong interest in Renewable Energy.

As a Director & Senior Research Associate of the prestigious Regulatory Policy Institute, I am responsible for the Research Programme. Under our Rethinking Regulation theme, I have developed a set of work streams addressing key frontier territories in regulatory policy, encompassing: adapting regulatory models to dynamic change & increasing state intervention; the economic regulation of digital platforms; the changing role of regulators in Infrastructure projects; addressing the challenges of Climate & the Energy Transition.

I have written or contributed to papers addressing the challenges of integrating intermittent renewables to the grid, developing the hydrogen economy, identifying the optimal characteristics of arms-length public bodies in promoting climate change policy, exploring ESG questions associated with Bitcoin, suggesting an improved model for the UK-EU trade relationship, along with promoting alternative strategic approaches to Climate Change Policy. I am a collaborative & collegiate individual with a strong hinterland in analysing & solving problems, running businesses & teams, working with researchers, conducting my own research, coordinating project work, writing & communicating ideas.

I can draw on a network of expertise and contacts in Finance, Academia, Politics, ESG Investment, Energy & Environmental Economics, Environmental NGO, and Local Government Pension Schemes. 

My experience includes running transition projects in investment banking and consulting work for trade bodies, sovereign entities and agencies.
